Running an audit: quick audits and full audits
What an audit checks, quick vs full audits, progress, and how long it takes.
An audit crawls your site page by page, following internal links from the homepage and the URLs listed in your XML sitemap, then checks every page against more than 60 SEO rules.
Quick audit vs full audit
- Quick audit — for sites that aren't verified yet: up to 25 pages, three clicks deep. Great for a first look.
- Full audit — for verified sites: crawls up to your plan's page limit (set the exact number in Settings → Max pages per crawl).
Starting and watching an audit
Adding a site starts an audit automatically. To run another, click Run audit / Re-run audit on the site dashboard, the Site Audit page, or the site's card on All websites. A progress panel shows pages checked, pages found, and elapsed time, and the page refreshes itself. You can leave — the audit keeps running.
What gets checked
- Server responses: errors, broken pages, redirect chains and loops
- robots.txt, XML sitemaps and indexability (noindex, canonicals)
- HTTPS, mixed content, www/non-www and HTTP/HTTPS duplicates
- Titles, meta descriptions, headings, language and mobile viewport
- Open Graph / social share tags and images
- Structured data (JSON-LD) validity
- Internal links, orphan pages, click depth and broken external links
- Duplicate content and low word count
How long does it take?
SEOFIX is deliberately polite to your server: by default it makes about two requests per second and always obeys your robots.txt crawl rules. Roughly: 25 pages ≈ 30 seconds, 500 pages ≈ 5 minutes. You can change the crawl rate in Settings.
Audit history and comparing audits
Every audit is kept. On Site Audit → Audit history, click View to open any earlier audit's issues and pages, or vs previous to compare it with the audit before it. Compare audits lets you pick any two.
- Fixed — found in the earlier audit, gone in the later one, on a page that was checked both times.
- New — found in the later audit on a page the earlier audit also checked (a regression).
- Still open — found in both audits.
- Findings on pages only one of the audits crawled (for example, a quick audit followed by a full audit) are shown separately, so they're never counted as fixed or as regressions.
The site dashboard shows Changes since last audit, and the PDF report includes the same section.
