Verifying ownership

Why verification exists and the three ways to do it.

Verification proves you control a site. It unlocks full audits (instead of the 25-page quick audit) and is required before SEOFIX will ever change anything on the site. Verification alone never gives SEOFIX permission to make changes — that's a separate, explicit step.

Three methods

  • DNS TXT record — add one TXT record at your domain provider. Best for most sites.
  • Meta tag — paste one line into your homepage's <head>.
  • HTML file — upload a small file to your site's root folder.
  1. 1Open the site, then Verify ownership (dashboard banner or Setup checklist).
  2. 2Pick a method and copy the exact values shown.
  3. 3Add them to your DNS, homepage or server.
  4. 4Click I've added it — verify now. DNS changes can take a few minutes (occasionally longer) to appear.
Keep the record, tag or file in place after verifying — removing it can un-verify the site in future.
